Capital markets partner Howie Farn leaves Kirkland & Ellis to join Freshfields

London-based international firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has poached Howie Farn from Kirkland & Ellis where he was a capital markets partner focusing on securities transactions.

In his new role at Freshfields, Farn is based in Hong Kong as a partner in the global transactions group. He focuses his practice on capital markets transactions, including advising clients on equity and debt securities and listings in New York, Hong Kong, Luxembourg, Singapore, London and Vienna for companies based in China and Taiwan from various industries. He also advises these companies in their pre-IPO and post-IPO financings and investments as well as various general corporate and regulatory matters related to U.S. securities law.

“It’s an honour to join Freshfields’ market-leading capital markets team,” said Farn, who speaks native Mandarin and English. “I’m looking forward to the opportunity to continue to advise some of the world’s most high-profile companies on their mission-critical transactions while working alongside some of the most respected practitioners in the market.”

Before joining Kirkland & Ellis, Farn spent 13 years at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in Hong Kong. Dual qualified in Hong Kong and New York, he brings a wealth of valuable experience.

“The Asia partners are delighted to welcome Howie Farn to Freshfields,” said Asia managing partner Thomas Ng. “Howie has accumulated significant experience advising on some landmark transactions for a range of household-name multinational clients. I believe he will add even greater strength and depth to our award-winning capital markets offering.”
