The global firm will also open a new office in Christchurch
Dentons has announced its absorption of health law boutique Claro in a combination set to take effect on 1 April.
The announcement comes as Dentons expands its presence in New Zealand through the opening of a Christchurch office. From the new branch, Claro founding partner Dr. Jonathan Coates will commence with Dentons as a consultant. Health law expert and litigator Anita Miller will join the partnership at the Wellington office.
Coates and Miller’s team, which operate across Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, will also transition to Dentons. According to Miller, the combination will enable the Claro team to “[leverage] the local relationships, together with the international connections Dentons provides, to meet and exceed the needs of our clients in an increasingly complex regulatory environment”.
“As part of Dentons, we will be able to connect clients to leading global talent and help leverage new opportunities across the sector both in New Zealand and globally”, she said.
Claro operates “at the intersection of law and the regulation, management and funding of health and disability services”, Dentons said. The health law boutique brings to the table relationships with both public and private health organisations throughout New Zealand. Many of the lawyers on Claro’s team possess health qualifications and frontline experience.
