NZ Law Awards event partner LEAP Legal certainly believes it will be, with LEAP NZ general manager of operations Alana Ashe expecting “a vibrant celebration of legal excellence”. In the first part of this interview, Ashe tells NZ Lawyer why LEAP decided to team up with Key Media on this big event, and why the awards are a “cornerstone event” for the profession.

What precipitated LEAP’s decision to be the event partner for this year’s NZ Law Awards?

LEAP’s decision to partner with this year’s NZ Law Awards is rooted in a deep commitment to supporting and celebrating excellence within New Zealand’s legal profession. As a leading provider of legal software, LEAP understands the pivotal role technology plays in advancing legal practice, and we recognise the NZ Law Awards as a key platform for honouring innovation and achievement in the field.

As an event partner, LEAP is committed to fostering a thriving legal community and contributing to the recognition of outstanding legal professionals and firms. LEAP is here to support the legal industry’s growth and to highlight the transformative impact of AI and world-class practice productivity solutions.

It’s about celebrating success, encouraging innovation, and working together to push the boundaries of what’s possible in legal practice.

In your opinion, what makes the NZ Law Awards such an important event for the profession?

The NZ Law Awards are a cornerstone event for the legal profession because they provide a platform to recognise and celebrate exceptional achievements and innovations within the industry. They not only honour the hard work and dedication of legal professionals but also highlight the evolving trends and standards in legal practice.

The awards serve as a benchmark for excellence, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and setting high standards for the industry. Additionally, they offer a valuable opportunity for networking and collaboration, which is essential for the growth and development of the legal community in New Zealand.

What are you most looking forward to on awards night?

On awards night, we’re most looking forward to celebrating the incredible achievements and successes of our peers in the legal profession. It’s always inspiring to see how firms and individuals have risen to challenges and set new benchmarks for excellence. We’re also excited about the chance to connect with colleagues, industry leaders, and fellow nominees, sharing insights and discussing the future of legal innovation.

The event promises to be a dynamic and engaging experience, and we’re eager to be part of such a vibrant celebration of legal excellence.

The 2024 NZ Law Awards winners will be announced at a black-tie gala ceremony to be hosted by comedy star Urzila Carlson. The venue will open for networking drinks at 7pm, with the awards ceremony beginning at 7:30pm. To book a table, click here.
