McVeagh Fleming has promoted Ala Sonti to special counsel.

Sonti handles all aspects of private client law and advises on matters involving relationship and residential property, retirement village conveyancing, and insolvency. She also assists clients with estate administration, litigation, and planning, including trusts, wills, and enduring powers of attorney.

She has been appointed as counsel by the Family Court under the Protection of Personal and Property Rights Act 1988.

The firm also promoted Ben Longbottom, Dominique Cochrane, Kim Saran Lee, Pieta Holani and Emanuel Iliev.

Longbottom was elevated to senior associate. He focuses on property and business transactions, helping rural clients with commercial rural legal work, including matters involving wind farms.

His experience covers business purchases and sales, corporate restructuring, financing transactions, commercial structures and contracts, subdivisions, residential property purchases and sales, and estate planning concerning trusts, wills, and powers of attorney.

Cochrane was promoted to associate. She focuses on family and relationship property, tackling family law matters such as asset protection, separation, parenting and childcare issues, domestic violence, adoption, and surrogacy.

Holani was elevated to senior solicitor. She focuses on commercial property, and her areas of experience include banking and finance, property disputes, residential property purchases and sales, commercial contracts, and wills and enduring powers of attorney.

Iliev was also promoted to senior solicitor. His practice focuses on litigation and dispute resolution; his experience spans wills and trusts, property, employment, construction, insurance, and tort. He has also handled relationship property, family, commercial transactions, professional negligence, debt recovery, and insolvency. He has appeared at all levels of criminal and civil proceedings at tribunals, the District Court and the High Court.

Lee was elevated to senior solicitor as well. Lee focuses on immigration law, working with both individuals and families.
