The move beefs up the firm's tax and competition capabilities

New senior associates called up in MinterEllisonRuddWatts promotions

Steven Liu and Jovana Nedeljkov have been promoted to senior associate in MinterEllisonRuddWatts’ mid-year promotions round.  

Liu is part of the tax team in Auckland, focusing on cross-border tax matters. He has tackled the tax aspects of inbound and outbound cross-border investments. 

He has handled aspects of projects such as structuring, rulings applications, documentation and disputes. His clients include large New Zealand corporates, multinationals, financial institutions, start-ups, high net worth individuals and not-for-profit organisations.  

Nedeljkov practises with the competition team in Auckland. As a regulatory lawyer, she has taken on competition (anti-trust), consumer law and regulated industry issues. 

She has worked on merger control, helped to prepare formal and informal merger notifications to the Commerce Commission, guided businesses on the Commerce Act aspects of commercial arrangements, and reviewed draft advertising, promotions, and terms and conditions for compliance with the Fair Trading Act’s prohibitions on false and misleading conduct in trade and unsubstantiated representations. 

Tamara Payne (banking and financial services, Auckland) and Alice Logan (construction and infrastructure, Auckland) were also elevated to senior solicitors.

All four newly promoted lawyers stepped into their roles on 1 July.
