Property and construction partner Ed Dunphy has been named Anthony Harper’s new managing partner.

Dunphy succeeds Malcolm Hurley, who was at the helm for 12 years. Dunphy takes the reins on 1 July.

He has been with the firm for over a decade. He became a partner at the firm in 2013 and has sat on the firm’s board for six years.

Hurley lauded the appointment, describing Dunphy as “a highly respected and experienced lawyer who has been instrumental in developing our national property and construction practice and leading some of our most complex and high-profile cases in this sector”.

Dunphy said he was “honoured and delighted” at the appointment, and expressed that he was eager to collaborate with his fellow partners, lawyers and staff. He also praised Hurley’s tenure.

"[Hurley] leaves a fantastic legacy, most notably the transition of Anthony Harper from a Christchurch firm to a national firm and a long, sustained period of growth", Dunphy said.

Hurley will remain with Anthony Harper as a partner on the corporate and commercial team.
