Group includes two special counsel
Russell McVeagh welcomed two special counsel and a senior associate to the firm in February.
The confirmation of the appointments follows the firm’s welcome of Kirsten Massey to the partnership. She returned to the firm after 15 years at Herbert Smith Freehills in London.
Spencer Naicker has joined the firm's property and construction practice as a special counsel. The specialist in front-end construction and infrastructure made the move from Bowmans, a South Africa-based firm.
Naicker is experienced in drafting construction contracts for a range of projects, including balance sheet-funded and project-financed projects, and has advised on construction law matters of transactions in various sectors.
Brigette Shone has joined the firm’s litigation practice as a special counsel in Auckland, moving from Baldwins Intellectual Property. She specialises in commercial litigation and all areas of IP dispute resolution and advice, including consumer law matters, the firm said.
Patrick Tumelty, who has been appointed as senior associate, joined the firm Herbert Smith Freehills in London. The litigator is a specialist in health and safety, commercial litigation, insurance, and professional negligence.
Tumelty has been involved in several high-profile cases in the UK, including advising Chevron on the investigation by the Health and Safety Executive of the Pembroke refinery explosion in Wales in 2011.
“These individuals bring a wealth of experience to the firm and I'm excited to see the contribution they will each make,” said Malcolm Crotty, Russell McVeagh chair.
