About half run out money before pay day
Two in three legal professionals in the UK struggle financially, a study by jobs website CV-Library has found.
That’s higher than the average, according to the study, which surveyed 2,300 British professionals. Overall, it found that 59.7% struggle to make ends meet each month.
CV-Library also found that about half of workers in the legal profession run out of money before pay day. That’s below the overall average, which was at 56.4%.
CV-Library also found that 53.3% were scared to ask their bosses for a pay raise. That’s slightly more than the 54% average.
Most workers will opt to quit and take on another role at another firm rather than ask for a raise, as they are more confident they will secure better pay this way, the study found.
“It’s worrying to see that so many people are struggling to make ends meet across the capital. The cost of living is continuing to rise and when the economy is so uncertain, it’s clear that companies just can’t keep up in terms of pay,” said Lee Biggins, CV-Library chief executive.
In previous surveys, CV-Library previously found that half of workers in the UK legal industry suffer from “Sunday night fear” – anxiety over returning to work Monday.
