Wynn Williams promotes seven

Wynn Williams has promoted five senior associates and two associates.

The promotions span the firm’s corporate and commercial, private client services, commercial property and projects, and dispute resolution practices. Two lawyers were promoted in Auckland, while five were promoted in Christchurch.

“The calibre of the lawyers within the firm continues to strengthen, which is evidenced by the amount of internal promotions we have been able to offer,” said Jared Ormsby, national managing partner. “We are excited for what this means for the firm going forward.”

Promoted to senior associate are Tom Corkill, Jenny Turner, Hayden Baird, Josh Taylor, and Shane Campbell.

Corkill, who is part of the firm’s corporate and commercial team, specialises in banking and finance. Based in Auckland, he acts on M&A, debt financing, and corporate governance matters.

Turner, who is a member of the private client services group, is an expert in residential, commercial, and rural property transactions. She is based in Christchurch.

Also based in Christchurch, Baird is focused in commercial property. He also works on private client matters and is a member of the firm’s commercial property and projects team.

Taylor is part of the firm’s dispute resolution team and is experienced in commercial, company disputes, insurance, insolvency, alcohol licensing and trust law. Based in Christchurch, he has a particular interest in construction law.

Campbell is also based in Christchurch. A dispute resolution team member, he is a specialist in commercial litigation, with a particular interest in trusts and estates, contract and company matters, negligence, construction, debt collection, and declaratory proceedings.

Promoted to associate are Tiana Ritchie and Nic Lawrence, who are both members of the firm’s dispute resolution group. Ritchie, who is based in Christchurch, is focused on complex commercial disputes, but is also involved in criminal and family litigation work. Lawrence, who is based in Auckland, primarily works on complex commercial disputes, but is also involved in insolvency, regulatory, insurance, and relationship property issues.

Wynn Williams has also announced that it recently appointed Ellie Harrison as a senior associate in its national dispute resolution team. Harrison, who is based in Auckland and specialises in insurance disputes, came from McElroys.

This January, the firm promoted senior associate Charlene Sell and Nick Kovacevich to partner. In December, the firm recruited partner Anthony Drake from Kensington Swan.
