Banking and finance partner is first Auckland-based chair in firm's 163-year history
Anderson Lloyd has announced the appointment of Geoff Busch, banking and finance partner, as its new board chair – the first in the role to be based in Auckland in the New Zealand law firm’s 163-year history.
In this position, he will work to promote Anderson Lloyd’s strategic vision and to deliver on its goals to offer exceptional legal services, help clients succeed, and foster an inclusive and sustainable culture for its people, the firm said in a recent update.
Busch has served as a board member from 2014–19 and for the last two years, as a partner at the firm since 2014, and as head of its banking and finance team.
He replaces Kerry O’Donnell, outgoing board chair and Queenstown-based property and private client partner. O’Donnell has finished her four-year term in the role.
“The firm thanks Kerry for her leadership, vision and unwavering dedication as Chair over the past four years,” Anderson Lloyd’s update said.
The firm said that Busch will keep assisting clients, especially in relation to project and corporate finance transactions, an area in which he is recognised as “a market-leading adviser on renewables and infrastructure project financings including public-private partnerships.”
His legal work has covered acquisition, structured, and property finance transactions, as well as debt restructuring, insolvency, and financial services regulation, according to his bio on the firm’s website. His practice areas have included capital raising, private equity and venture capital, climate change, and environment, social, and governance.
Busch has advised international and domestic banks, financial institutions, and borrowers and issuers from various sectors.
Beyond his work at the firm, he is a member of the NZ organising committee and chair of the NZ documentation working group of the Asia Pacific Loan Market Association. He also belongs to the Banking and Financial Services Law Association, the Institute of Finance Professionals New Zealand, and the New Zealand Private Capital Association, as per his bio.
Busch holds LLB (first class honours) and BA degrees from the University of Otago.
