Local government specialist Nathan Speir has been announced as Meredith Connell’s (MC) newest partner.

This marks a return for Speir, who launched his legal career at the firm as a Crown prosecutor. The appointment takes effect immediately.

“Nathan joining MC is an endorsement of our position in the market as one of Aotearoa’s top law firms and the number one in litigation. To have someone of Nathan’s exceptional calibre and reputation join the team means we can continue to expand and strengthen our offering to our local government clients”, MC management board chair Mark Harborow said.

After departing MC the first time, Speir went on to expand his practice to commercial litigation, developing his own advisory and litigation business. He became an independent director of Te Manawataki o Te Papa Limited last year.

While residing in Auckland, he travels around the country during the week because “nothing beats working alongside local government teams to really understand what they want to achieve”.
