The firm also brought in Damian Broadley as a consultant
Duncan Cotterill has beefed up its IP team with three new partners in Katy Stove, Jonathan Aumonier-Ward and Kieran O’Connell, as well as a new consultant in Damian Broadley.
“Appointing Katy, Jonathan, and Kieran to our partnership underscores the importance of this practice to our firm and clients. With senior expertise in our three largest offices we can better serve local businesses, and meet the increasing international demand we are witnessing”, IPT partner Michael Moyes said.
Stove led the firm’s trade marks and designs group and is a specialist in soft IP. Meanwhile, Aumonier-Ward and O’Connell both have a background in working with US-based law firms and brand owners on getting their trade marks in New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Islands.

Aumonier-Ward, who had been with his previous firm for 23 years, said that the decision to leave was “difficult”, but he saw the new appointment as “an exciting opportunity to leverage my experience; helping businesses navigate the complexities of IP law”.
Broadley has represented major companies worldwide as well as New Zealand-listed, private and government entities. Along with Aumonier-Ward and O’Connell, he will help Duncan Cotterill to extend its offering to the US.
