Shannon is a Senior Partner within Jones Day’s global M&A team with deep experience in capital markets, securities and financial services regulation, prudential regulation, foreign investment regulation, public M&A, funds M&A and governance.
Shannon was national Chairman of the Corporations Committee of the Law Council of Australia (LCA), and led the COVID Emergency Measures Working Group for that Committee, consulting directly with government and regulatory agencies throughout 2020 on the broad array of markets, corporate, insolvency and governance COVID measures. She collaborated with the Governance Institute of Australia, AIRA and AICD and represented the LCA at parliamentary committee hearings on corporate law matters including insider trading reforms, continuous disclosure reforms, virtual meetings and electronic signature reforms, and critical infrastructure reforms. Shannon was appointed to the Advisory Committee to the Australian Law Reform Commission’s Review of Corporations and Financial Services Legislation, and is a member of the LCA Foreign Investment Committee.
Shannon joined the Jones Day global M&A team in 2019, after over 25 years in corporate practice, contributing to the growth of Jones Day’s Australian transactional practice. Since entering the Australian market, Jones Day has developed eminent practices across the board with 30 partners and over 100 lawyers in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, with full transactional capability as well as a large disputes practice. Jones Day now acts on some of the largest and most complex client mandates in the Australian market. With a unique blend of very senior partners from top tier firms and young emerging talent, the team has a low leverage model delivering high partner engagement, deep commercial insight and seamless global reach that comes from one of the world’s largest single legal partnerships.
