Barry.Nilsson. has wooed two new senior associates from top rivals.

Emily Schneider joins the firm’s insurance team in Melbourne, while Andrew Ward becomes part of the firm’s insurance and health law team in Brisbane.

Schneider, who has also been appointed as the national pro bono manager of the firm, comes from insurance-specialist firm Wotton + Kearney, where she was senior associate for more than six years. She will be responsible for further developing the pro bono and corporate social responsibility program of the firm.

Before that, the complex and high-value indemnity claims specialist spent nearly three years at Gadens. Schneider, who focuses on professional negligence claims, acts for financial advisors, directors and officers, solicitors and law firms, and construction professionals.

Ward joins Barry.Nilsson. from global firm Clyde & Co, where he was senior associate for three years. He was also a senior associate at Sparke Helmore and an associate at Cooper Grace Ward.

His expertise is in the areas of financial lines, directors’ and officers’ liability, professional indemnity, general liability, and reinsurance.  He acts for domestic and national insurers and their clients in multiple jurisdictions. He also advises on complex coverage issues, litigated and non-litigated claims, and disputes including representative proceedings.
