DLA Piper has hired William “Skip” Fisher,
Hogan Lovells’ China patents head.
Fisher, who will be based in Shanghai, will lead DLA Piper’s patents practice in China. He comes to the position after spending six years leading Hogan Lovell’s patents, trade secrets, and intellectual property transactions and licensing practice in the country.
Fisher’s practice focuses crafting strategies for clients to procure, protect, commercialise and enforce IP rights, and minimise risk to IP assets in China, the US, and around the world. In addition to advising on US, Chinese, and international IP law, Fisher also acts for clients in high-stakes litigation and enforcement, and in negotiations for licenses, collaborations, development contracts, and commercial agreements.
He has experience advising clients in a myriad of industries, including computer hardware and software, computer networks, mobile devices and applications, telecommunications, Internet and e-commerce, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical, medical devices, mechanical and industrial products, aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing.
With more than 20 years’ experience, Fisher was formerly of counsel at US BigLaw outfit Perkins Coie before transferring to Hogan Lovells in 2011. He has practiced in the US, China, and Hong Kong.
