The firm has made a total of 14 lateral partner hires over the past financial year
Colin Biggers & Paisley (CBP) has scored another lateral hire, appointing Paul O’Halloran as its newest partner in the employment and safety team.
O’Halloran, who joins the firm’s Melbourne office, comes from FCB Workplace Law, where he was practice head. With more than 15 years’ experience, he has extensive knowledge of high-risk matters in employment law, including litigation, workplace and institutional misconduct, industrial and bargaining disputes, discrimination and sexual harassment compliance, unfair dismissal and adverse-action claims, and work health and safety.
Greg McCann, head of the firm’s national employment and safety team, said that CBP has had a lot success with growing the practice. The employment and safety practice has grown from one lawyer in 2013 to a current team of 15 in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney.
O'Halloran said he moved to ensure his clients, particularly non-government schools and religious entities, could benefit from a progressive full-service national firm. He was also attracted to the firm’s pro bono efforts, he said.
O'Halloran’s appointment comes after Seamus Gunson also joined the firm in Melbourne as the newest property partner just last week. At the start of July, the firm promoted Ana Kolovos and Tim Seton to partner. In May, former Jones Day partner Greg Begaud was hired by the firm.
CBP now has 74 partners. It has made 14 lateral partner hires over the last year.
Paul O’Halloran
