Dentons strengthens employment practice with new partner

Dentons has announced the appointment Ruth Nocka as partner at its Sydney office – a move that will significantly boost the firm’s employment practice.

Nocka is an experienced workplace relations lawyer who advises on all areas of employment law and is highly regarded for her knowledge in discrimination law and employment contracts which extends to employment litigation. She has advised some of Australia’s leading companies, including Commonwealth Bank of Australia, the Australian Building and Construction Commission, Western Union, NBN Co Limited, Downer, the Archdiocese of Sydney, and Boeing.

Doug Stipanicev, Australia region chair and chief executive at Dentons, said that Nocka’s appointment is another important milestone in growing Dentons’ offering in Australia.

“We’re very excited to have Ruth join us,” said Stipanicev. “Her appointment strengthens our ability to provide employment expertise to our clients in more locations and will complement our employment offering in Adelaide following our combination with our associate firm, Fisher Jeffries.”

For her part, Nocka said that she was excited at the opportunity to grow the firm’s employment practice. “Dentons has seen some significant growth in Australia in recent years, and I’m looking forward to being part of that journey,” said Nocka. “Joining a global law firm brings so many opportunities for all of my clients, but particularly for those who have a presence in overseas.”
