The deal may help manage expected growth in freight volumes and road and rail congestion across Sydney
DLA Piper was the legal adviser in LINX Cargo Care Group’s winning bid for the Enfield Intermodal Terminal in western Sydney.
LINX has successfully bid to operate the terminal, which was previously operated by Aurizon. The deal includes the acquisition of rolling stock and related rail assets and the leasing and operation of the 15.1-hectare terminal.
Located 18 kilometres from Port Botany in Sydney’s west, the facility includes warehousing and buildings with vacant land for the development of freight forwarding, import and export, transport and distribution facilities, DLA Piper said.
Partner Grant Koch and special counsel Amit Jois led the team that acted on the deal. The team also included senior foreign legal associate Jonathan Higgs and solicitor Jack McDonell.
“This transaction aligns with NSW Ports' objective to increase the number of containers moved by rail to and from Port Botany, and provides LINX the opportunity to expand the intermodal and rail services at Enfield and develop solutions to manage the expected growth in freight volumes and forecast increase in road and rail congestion across Sydney,” said Jois.
Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
