Deborah Tomkinson will also serve as counsel
Former Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA) Secretary-General Deborah Tomkinson has joined arbitration specialist firm Peter & Kim as director of corporate strategy.
In her new role, Tomkinson will lead the firm’s strategic initiatives and global partnership projects. She will operate from the Sydney office, where she will also serve as counsel.
Tomkinson focuses on dispute resolution and management in the construction and infrastructure and energy and resources sectors. In addition to having worked with ACICA for a dozen years, she also recorded stints at both national and international firms in Australia and the UAE.
She was on the council of the International Federation of Commercial Arbitration Institutions, vice president of the Asia Pacific Regional Arbitration Group, a R.E.A.L Ambassador, and a member of the ICCA Cross Institutional Task Force on Gender Diversity in Arbitral Appointments and Proceedings and the ERA Search Committee.
“Deborah’s experience fits perfectly within the Peter & Kim team in a time of pivotal growth for the firm. We are particularly excited to have Deborah undertake this role from the Sydney office, reflecting the significance of Australia’s position in the global economy, depth of expertise in complex international disputes, and its growing recognition as an arbitration centre”, Peter & Kim Sydney partner Jim Morrison said.
Tomkinson commences with the firm as it celebrates five years in the profession.
“Deborah has been an incredible asset to ACICA over the last twelve years, and Peter & Kim are very lucky to have lured her back into private practice. She has invaluable experience and network and will no doubt do a tremendous job”, ACICA immediate past president Georgia Quick said.
