Global firm announces Asia Pacific leadership appointments
Norton Rose Fulbright has announced several appointments to its Asia Pacific leadership team, effective 1st May.

Corporate partner Psyche Tai becomes head of the Hong Kong office. She has been with the firm for 13 years and so has Yu-En Ong, a banking & finance partner, who will become head of the Singapore office.

Meanwhile, Singapore-based project finance and banking partner Nick Merritt becomes head of Asia business strategy but will also continue as the global leader for infrastructure, mining and commodities.

Head of South East Asia Jeff Smith is returning to London while Head of North Asia Phillip John will retire at the end of August.

Four more law firms form insurance-focused network
Another quartet of law firms has joined together to form a network focused on the insurance industry and collaborating on a non-exclusive basis.

London firm Weightmans has led the formation of Insurance Law Global, which also includes Canada’s Blaney McMurtry, Spanish firm LC Rodrigo Abogados, and Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin in the US.

"The legal services market - and the way in which our clients need us to work - is changing,” said Weightmans’ managing partner Dan Cutts. “Our partnerships will ensure we can continue to deliver legal support to our insurer clients in an increasingly globalised environment."

The formation of the network follows that of Legalign Global earlier in the year, which includes Australian firm Wootton + Kearney; and the ACQUES network which focuses on trade credit insurance and surety law which has been formed by Stephen Polczynski, managing partner at Aussie firm Polczynski Lawyers.

DLA Piper now largest law firm in the Nordics
A new addition to the global law firm DLA Piper will increase its footprint in the Nordic region and make it the largest law firm in the region.

Danish firm LETT has around 150 lawyers in Copenhagen and Aarhus and will rebrand to DLA Piper when the combination goes live by the end of May 2017.

“Many of our existing clients do business in the Nordics and by extending our presence in Denmark, we will now be able to offer them an unparalleled capability in the region and access to legal services which can meet their needs domestically, regionally and globally," commented DLA Piper global co-CEO Simon Levine.
