Global firm Clyde & Co has announced that it will merge with Dallas firm Tillman Batchelor LLP, strengthening its global insurance practice and building on its presence in North America.

Tillman Batchelor founders Mark Tillman and Colin Batchelor commenced with Clyde & Co’s Dallas office as partners. The new partners brought with them a six-member team.

“Texas is an important market for our US and global insurance clients seeking coverage and defence services, and we are pleased to strengthen our team and southwest presence to better serve them. As our clients’ needs become more complex, this merger further reinforces our position as the leader in insurance coverage litigation in the US and globally,” Clyde & Co senior partner Carolena Gordon said in a media release.

Tillman Batchelor focused on the defense of first party/bad faith insurance litigation. The firm also advised on insurance coverage and consulted across a variety of insurance business lines; its clients included domestic and international insurance carriers and their insureds.

The chair of Clyde & Co’s North American board, Eileen King Bower, highlighted Tillman Batchelor’s “strong record and reputation in trial and defense as well as insurance coverage disputes.” The Tillman Batchelor founders said that the merger represented a “natural next step,” given the long-term relationship between the two firms.

“Our clients in Dallas and beyond stand to benefit significantly, as does our entire team. We will make the most of the national and global opportunities to grow and develop our practices and people,” the founders said.

Clyde & Co launched in North America in 2006 with an office in New York. Since then, it has expanded to 19 North American offices across the US and Canada. Recently, the firm also welcomed new partners Tom Maroney and Liz Evans (New York) as well as Smita Mokshagundam and Danny Worker (Chicago).
