Goodwin elevates global tech practice co-chair to firm chair

Goodwin has elected global tech practice co-chair Anthony McCusker as its new firm chair.

McCusker will step into the leadership role on 1 October. He takes over from Robert Insolia, who held the post for the past four years.

“Our client-centric strategy and our global platform are differentiated as much by the unique mix of market-moving industries they cover, as by our deep understanding of these industries, and the growing convergence among them. Rob has done an outstanding job building on the Goodwin promise to both our clients and our people, and I look forward to continuing with this build – along with all of us at the firm – in my role as chair”, McCusker said.

McCusker started with Goodwin in 2010. He kicked off his tenure with the firm by establishing its tech practice on the West Coast before eventually going on to help lead the global tech practice. In addition, he chaired the firm’s Silicon Valley branch, and was part of Goodwin’s executive and allocations committees.

As he takes the reins, McCusker is set to work together with managing partner Mark Bettencourt to spur the firm’s strategic initiatives and culture. McCusker will concentrate on client, talent, and press relations, as well as on brand promotion and support.

“Goodwin’s success has been driven by relentlessly focusing on our strategy and our culture, and the partnership overwhelmingly feels Anthony is the right person to carry this torch forward”, outgoing chair Insolia said.

Insolia will resume practising full time once he vacates the chair position.
