Here are the 10 most female-friendly law firms in America

For the first time in its 13-year history, Yale Law Women’s (YLW) annual family-friendly firms report highlights America’s 10 most female-friendly law firms.

The new structure recognises that not all attorneys who have significant non-work obligations are women, and not all women have significant non-work obligations, the organisation said.

“We recognise that not everyone who identifies as a woman plans to raise children, and that everyone has different family caregiving needs. This year, we have expanded our focus on gender equity, and we are excited to share new insights,” YLW said.

Firms on the most female-friendly list were evaluated by looking into their gender equity, the representation of women in senior ranks, and training and mentorship programs.

In alphabetical order, the 10 most female-friendly firms in America are: Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer; Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner; Hogan Lovells; Holland & Knight; Katten Muchin Rosenman; Littler Mendelson; McDermott Will & Emery; Morgan, Lewis & Bockius; Morrison & Foerster; and Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe.

Recently, Arnold & Porter quietly axed the Kaye Scholer name from its brand. Bryan Cave is fresh from its merger with the UK’s Berwin Leighton Paisner. Hogan Lovells just ditched annual reviews.

YLW judged the most family-friendly firms in the US by analysing data on policies covering pay and billable hours, parental leaves, and flexible-work arrangements.

The 10 most family-friendly firms, in alphabetical order, are: Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner; Fish & Richardson; Hunton & Williams; McDermott Will & Emery; Morgan, Lewis & Bockius; Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe; Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman; Reed Smith; Vinson & Elkins; and Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr.
