The transaction marks a global mining company’s first acquisition in Australia
Euronext Paris-listed ERAMET SA has tapped Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) for its first acquisition in Australia.
ERAMET has made a $350m off-market bid for ASX-listed Mineral Deposits Limited (MDL). ERAMET and MDL operate the TiZir joint venture, which operates assets in Senegal and Norway. ERAMET has operations in nearly 20 countries and employs about 12,600 people.
HSF fielded lawyers in both Australia and Paris for the deal. Leading the HSF team is partner Tony Damian, who is assisted by senior associate Li-Lian Yeo, and solicitors Joshua Santilli and David Southwood.
Partner Rebecca Major and of counsel Laurence Vincent from the HSF Paris office are also providing expert advice.
“We are delighted to be working with ERAMET on its first Australian acquisition,” Damian said. “This deal is a great example of the high levels of cross-border M&A that we are seeing at the moment.”
ERAMET’s financial adviser is Macquarie Capital.
