Fong previously served as CLO at U.S. industrial giant, 3M
Global healthcare technology company, Medtronic Plc, has appointed Ivan Fong as executive vice president, general counsel and secretary, effective Feb. 1. He will succeed Brad Lerman who is retiring at the end of January.
Fong joins Medtronic from American industrial giant, 3M, where he spent nine years, most recently serving as chief legal and policy officer and secretary. At 3M, Fong took responsibility for all legal, legal policy, compliance, government affairs, and global security matters.

Prior to joining 3M, Fong served as general counsel for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and as chief legal officer and secretary for Cardinal Health, Inc. He has also held the titles of senior vice president and general counsel of GE Vendor Financial Services; and GE’s first chief privacy leader and senior counsel, information technology. Fong was also Deputy Associate Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice. He is currently a board member of Cboe Global Markets.
