Two firms have advised as a Japanese paper-products behemoth acquires a paper-based packaging business in Victoria.
K&L Gates acted for Oji Fibre Solutions on its acquisition of Cardboard Carton Solutions, which was advised by Clarendons. Financial details of the deal, which required Foreign Investment Review Board approval, were not disclosed.
Oji Fibre is ultimately owned by Tokyo-based Oji Holdings Corp., the fifth-largest pulp and paper company in the world, and Innovation Network Corporation of Japan. Oji Holdings has 158 consolidated subsidiaries in 17 countries. Oji Fibre operates in Australia and New Zealand with more than 1,850 employees.
Corporate and transactional partner John Mann led the K&L Gates team that advised Oji on all legal aspects of the transaction. He was assisted by senior associate Amy Chinnappa and graduate Annina Nowak.
