The firm advised the company’s teams in both Australia and the US
K&L Gates has helped the Australian subsidiary of an American energy company bag a key role in one of Australia’s largest solar power projects.
The global firm advised Signal Energy Australia, a subsidiary of Tennessee-based Signal Energy, on its appointment as joined engineering, procurement, and construction contractor of the Darlington Point Solar Farm.
The 333MW project, located in New South Wales and sponsored by Edify Energy and Octopus Investments, will produce enough clean energy to power more than 115,000 homes.
Luke Westmore, K&L Gate energy, infrastructure, and resources partner, headed the K&L Gates team on the deal. He was supported by lawyer Rachel McNally.
“It is fantastic to see the continued growth of large scale solar projects in Australia, and we are very proud to continue to be actively involved in these complex and landmark projects,” Westmore said.
Ashurst, Herbert Smith Freehills, and Allens were also involved in the project.
