Linklaters' China ally opens Beijing branch

Linklaters’ ally in China has been given government approval to open a second office.

Zhao Sheng Law Firm has received official approval from the Beijing Bureau of Justice to set up an office in the capital city.

The firm formed a Shanghai free trade zone joint operation called Linklaters Zhao Sheng in April 2018.

Linklaters said that the new office will enable its partner firm to offer a full range of People’s Republic of China law services, which will meet the needs of clients in Beijing.

The location is also ideal because of its proximity to key commercial regulators, giving the firm the opportunity to strengthen relationships and gain insights into the regulatory landscape, it said.

With an initial focus on competition, the new office provides the opportunity to open new practice areas, Linklaters said. The Shanghai joint operation is currently known for its work in corporate M&A, financial regulation, competition, and dispute resolution.

Zhao Sheng advices a wide range of local and international clients, including COSCO, UBS, China Development Bank, and China Merchants Group.
