The long-time CPA Australia executive has been interim CEO since July
Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) is keeping Adam Awty as chief executive.
Awty, who has been interim CEO since July, has been tasked to strengthen member services and advocate for the legal profession and community, Victoria’s peak legal profession body said.
“Adam’s impressive leadership skills and strategic understanding of membership organisations has been extremely valuable to the Law Institute of Victoria,” said Belinda Wilson, LIV president. “We’re delighted that Adam has been able to come into the LIV and understand the issues that are of concern to members, the profession and the community. Adam has been working closely with members, staff and key stakeholders and he’ll continue that momentum and make a real difference for our members and the profession.”
“Adam brings a genuine commitment to innovation and collaboration across the LIV and the legal profession. His strong experience in membership organisations will help the LIV as it moves to a new home in the legal precinct and celebrates its 160th anniversary next year while also wanting to tackle issues of concern to the profession and the community,” she said.
Prior to LIV, Awty spent 18 years at CPA Australia in various leadership roles, including interim CEO, chief operating officer for commercial, chief financial officer, company secretary, and financial controller.
“It is a great honour to lead the LIV and I am excited about the opportunities ahead for the Law Institute, especially around delivering value for all members and standing up for the legal profession and community,” he said.
