Meridian Lawyers welcomes practice leader for new team, new co-leader for general insurance

Meridian Lawyers has brought in Andrew Gorman as the practice group leader for its new compulsory third party (CTP) team and Scott Kennedy as its new co-practice group leader for general insurance.

Both commenced with the firm on Monday, and each bring over three decades of expertise in insurance law.

“Both are recognised leaders in the legal market with an exceptionally loyal client following. Their experience and standing in the insurance industry, exemplary track record, and technical skills, complements the expertise of our high calibre team”, managing director Paul Baker said.

Gorman’s focus on CTP made him the ideal lawyer to head up Meridian’s CTP offering. Meanwhile, Kennedy has considerable experience in handling coverage and indemnity disputes under professional indemnity, contract works and ISR policies, as well as litigated claims and recoveries.

Kennedy has also tackled public and product liability claims, including high-volume attritional loss portfolios, class actions and catastrophic losses.

“The addition of Andrew and Scott, strengthens our insurance industry capabilities, and their presence in our national insurance team has been extremely well received by our clients”, Baker said.

In May, Meridian expanded its insurance offering to include a recoveries practice.
