The newly inked contract is a major step for the infrastructure project, the lead partner says
Ashurst has helped launch the development of a major infrastructure project in Sydney.
The international firm advised Western Sydney Airport (WSA) on its bulk earthworks contract with a joint venture between CPB Contractors and Lendlease Engineering.
The contract is the first major contract signed in the development of the new Western Sydney International Nancy-Bird Walton Airport.
Partner Krista Payne headed the Ashurst transport and infrastructure team on the deal. She underscored the significance of the deal.

Ashurst said that deal is one of the largest ever infrastructure earthworks projects in Australia.
“The project involves moving approximately 25 million cubic metres of earth on the site to support construction of the major elements of the airport, including the runway and terminal. Initial earthworks began in September last year, with the major earthworks expected to begin later this year. The airport is on track to open to international, domestic and freight flights in 2026,” the firm said.
