Paul Hastings expands restructuring and finance practice with hires from King & Spalding

Paul Hastings LLP has announced the addition of a team of restructuring, private credit, and special situations lawyers from King & Spalding LLP.

The team includes Jennifer Daly, previously co-head of King & Spalding’s global finance and restructuring practice and former head of the private credit and special situations practice. Roger Schwartz, Matthew Warren, Christopher Boies, Zachary Cochran, Peter Montoni, Geoffrey King, Lindsey Henrikson, and Robert Nussbaum are joining Daly.

Daly, Schwartz, Boies, Montoni, and Nussbaum will be based in New York. Warren will divide his time between Chicago and Houston, where he will be joined by King and Henrikson. Cochran will operate from the Washington, D.C., and New York offices. Schwartz and Warren also bring experience from their tenure as restructuring partners at Latham & Watkins LLP.

The team’s in-house experience includes representing clients such as private credit funds, business development companies (BDCs), banks, financial institutions, and collateralized loan obligations (CLOs). Their expertise covers all market cycles.

Jennifer Daly will serve as lead counsel for private credit funds, special situation and opportunistic funds, BDCs, hedge funds, and other investment advisors. She focuses on direct lending transactions, leveraged finance, and secured and unsecured lending transactions, including debtor-in-possession and mezzanine financings. Daly has held senior roles at Bank of America, Merrill Lynch, and Avenue Capital, and served as COO and CCO at hedge fund Hunter Peak Investments.

Roger Schwartz is experienced in restructuring and special situations, representing companies, lenders, and investors in Chapter 11 cases, out-of-court restructurings, distressed acquisitions, and liability management transactions. Schwartz previously served as senior counsel of workouts at GE Capital.

Matthew Warren specializes in distressed debt and insolvency issues, including Chapter 11 proceedings, distressed acquisitions, and cross-border bankruptcies. Christopher Boies focuses on private credit funds, special situations, and opportunistic funds, advising across the entire lifecycle of financing transactions.

Zachary Cochran represents companies and investors in capital markets transactions, including offerings of bonds, preferred stock, IPOs, and liability management transactions. Cochran previously served as senior corporate counsel at an artificial intelligence software company.

Lindsey Henrikson, Geoffrey King, Peter Montoni, and Robert Nussbaum will focus on diverse restructuring and special situations matters.

According to the firm, adding the new team aligns with other recent moves that have boosted Paul Hastings' global restructuring platform.
