Regulator begins court action against Audi over emissions scandal
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has begun proceedings against Audi over the emissions scandal.

Maurice Blackburn says that the new proceedings are in addition to the ACCC’s case against Volkswagen and is in line with the law firm’s Dieselgate class action.

“The ACCC’s legal action today represents a new level of vigour and intensity being placed on the VW group in Australia, which we welcome,” the firm’s Jason Geisker said.

“Maurice Blackburn has been astounded at the numerous procedural and technical points taken by VW in this litigation, so it is no surprise to us that the ACCC has now sued Audi AG and Audi Australia directly,” he added.

The regulator is seeking declarations, pecuniary penalties, corrective advertising and legal costs.

Colin Riegels will succeed Sheila George who is refocusing on heading the firm’s global private wealth practice, following five years as BVI managing partner.

Reigels has been with the firm since 1999 and played a key role in setting up its offices in London and Singapore.

Global firm offers flexible working for associates
Morgan Lewis associates in the UK and US will be able to work one or two days a week from home.

“The Remote Working Program will provide additional flexibility without sacrificing any productivity or engagement with our clients or the firm, and will help us to continue to attract and retain top associate talent,” associate talent partner Amanda Smith commented.
