Herbert Smith Freehills has acted for Goldwind Australia on the 150MW Cattle Hill Wind Farm in Australia.

The firm worked on various aspects of the major project, including environment and planning, grid connection, procurement, and the renewable energy certificate contract with Aurora Energy.

The firm’s team included partners Gerard Pike, Heidi Asten, and Kris Percy, and senior associate Darren Bick. Pike worked on the offtake agreement, Asten and Bick worked on environment and planning matters, and Percy worked on grid connection issues.

The team worked closely with the Goldwind team, which included Steven Nethery and Laura Jeffrey.

Pike said that Goldwind is a leading renewables developer in Australia and now its commitment to Tasmania demonstrates its foresight and expertise in identifying and moving to construction of large-scale renewables projects in Australia despite a challenging regulatory environment.

Jeffrey praised HSF for its “consistently professional and capable” team.

HSF recently worked on the Lincoln Gap Wind Farm project and is also involved in Coopers Gap Wind Farm, Australia’s largest wind farm project.
