Russell Kennedy brings in private client practice head

Russell Kennedy has tasked Michael Clohesy to lead its private client practice.

The new special counsel moves to the firm from his own private practice, Clohesy Legal, which he established in 2013. Prior to that, he led the wills and estates team at Slater and Gordon. Russell Kennedy has confirmed that Clohesy has brought his existing practice with him to the firm.

“Michael is highly respected and brings with him the necessary skills to deliver high-quality services and advice to our clients,” said Rohan Harris, Russell Kennedy principal.

Paul Gleeson, managing director, said that the appointment stays true to the firm’s growth strategy.

“With Michael’s appointment we continue to build on our areas of focus and develop our diversity of talent, having also just appointed Jos Mulcahy, construction principal, in May this year,” he said. The appointment also comes after the firm made its largest-ever senior promotions round earlier this month.

“Russell Kennedy remains committed to its growth agenda and is focussed on expanding its capacity and capability in core industries and enhancing and facilitating opportunities for its clients both now and in the future. The firm continues to expand within the commercial space, which has presented significant challenges and opportunities for law firms,” the firm said.
