Apparently The Donald’s lawyer doesn’t take kindly to unsolicited advice
Donald Trump’s personal lawyer lambasted a complete stranger in a string of profanity-laced emails after he was urged to resign from his post advising the US president.
Marc E. Kasowitz, who was retained by Trump in May to defend him in the US government’s inquiry into the Trump campaign’s ties with Russia, was sent an email by an unnamed man on the evening of 12 July, reported Pro Publica.
The email, which was sent by a retired public relations professional with the subject line “Resign Now,” was prompted by Kasowitz saying through a spokesperson that he currently does not have security clearance, nor does he expect to apply for one.
It starts off innocently, with the man saying he does not know Kasowitz and that the lawyer does not know him.
“But, I believe it is in your interest and the long-term interest of your firm for you to resign from your position advising the President,” the man wrote. “No good can come from this and, in fact, your name may turn out to be a disparaging historical footnote to the presidency of (Donald Trump).”
Kasowitz seemingly took offense, and replied with “F*ck you.”
Seemingly fuming from the email, Kasowitz then followed up with another email 15 minutes after his first.
“And you don’t know me but I will know you,” he said. “How dare you send me an email like that … I’m on you now. You are f*cking with me now … Watch your back, b**ch.”
The man then replied: “Thank you for your kind reply … I may be in touch as appropriate.”
Kasowitz did not stop, however. He said that the man should call him if he “wants a conversation.” The lawyer said he will “have it” with the man.
“Call me. Don’t be afraid, you piece of sh*t. Stand up. If you don’t call, you’re just afraid. Call me,” Kasowitz wrote.
In another email, Kasowitz said he was Jewish and that he presumed the man was, too. He then repeated saying the man should call him, and said, “I already know where you live, I’m on you. You might as well call me. You will see me. I promise. Bro.”
The man told Pro Publica that he sent the FBI the email string so there would be a written record of it, should anything happen to him. In an update, a spokesperson said Kasowitz intended to apologise to the man. The spokesperson said that while there’s no excuse for the behaviour, “the email came at the end of a very long day that at 10 p.m. was not yet over.”
“The person sending that email is entitled to his opinion and I should not have responded in that inappropriate manner,” Kasowitz said through his spokesperson. “I intend to send him an email stating just that. This is one of those times where one wishes he could reverse the clock, but of course I can’t.”
