One of the new partners currently heads up the firm's corporate and commercial practice
Carter Newell has promoted two new partners in Peter Motti and Greg Stirling.
Motti presently heads up the corporate and commercial team, while Stirling works with the insurance team. They take up their new positions on 1 July.
“Peter and Greg are deserving additions to our partnership and will play instrumental roles as Carter Newell primes for significant continued growth”, CEO Marc Walker said.
Motti, who joined the firm in mid-2023, brings over a decade of experience in both Australian and international markets. He has advised on corporate governance, M&A, capital raisings, employee share schemes, commercial contracts, PPSR and general commercial matters in the agriculture, technology, engineering, infrastructure, government, real estate, and communications sector.
Stirling has been with Carter Newell for 10 years. He is a seasoned litigator and specialist insurance lawyer who has tackled complex and high-value professional indemnity and D&O liability claims.
He has served as defence counsel for insurers and their insureds, focusing on claims involving solicitors, barristers, veterinary surgeons, accountants, and design and construction professionals. He has also advised on complex coverage matters.
Carter Newell also elevated Joseph Brighouse (professional liability insurance, Brisbane) to special counsel and Chelsea Lee (construction, projects and infrastructure, Sydney) to associate effective 1 July. In addition, the firm welcomed Tania Zordan as a special counsel in the Sydney corporate and commercial team.
