The promotions are in line with the firm’s strategy to build up its APAC presence
Kennedys has promoted Con Kakakios and Nathan Buck to partner in its Sydney office, in line with the firm’s latest global promotions round.
The promotions took effect on 1 May, making Kakakios and Buck the 23rd and 24th partners at Kennedys Australia. The appointments are part of the firm's strategy to bolster its senior expertise in general liability, financial lines and complex disputes.
Kakakios transitioned to Kennedys from Clyde & Co last December. He has more than 23 years of experience defending public and product liability claims.
He is an accredited personal injury law specialist who has handled civil liability personal injury claims such as catastrophic injury and death claims. Kakakios has also worked on large-scale and technically complex property damage and industrial accident claims as well as dust diseases claims; his clients include manufacturers, occupiers, and employers.
Buck focuses on defamation, crisis and reputation management, professional indemnity, directors’ and officers’ liability, sports law, inquiries and inquests, strata disputes and migration agents indemnity. He has acted for insurers across all lines of business.
Kennedys APAC managing partner Matt Andrews lauded the promotions, indicating that the promotions are “part of our strategic focus to build one of the leading legal and risk advisory teams in the APAC region”.
