Learn how Velocity Legal became one of Australasian Lawyer's Top Boutique Firms for 2024

Velocity Legal: Australasian Top Boutique Firm of 2024

In this edition of Australasian Lawyer TV, we sat down with Andrew Henshaw, Managing Director of Velocity Legal, to discuss the firm’s recent recognition as one of Australasian Lawyer’s Top Boutique Firms for 2024. Founded in 2016, Velocity Legal has consistently delivered integrated legal solutions tailored to private businesses, business owners, and family groups, growing significantly in both size and expertise since its inception.

Henshaw explained how Velocity Legal was created to fill a key gap in the legal market. “There were law firms that provided tax law and others that provided commercial law, but there weren’t firms offering an integrated solution that combined both in a seamless way. It often felt like you were dealing with two separate teams,” he shared. Since then, the firm has expanded to over 40 professionals across seven different practice areas. Those being, property, employment, trusts, estates, litigation, and family law. Despite this impressive growth, the firm remains committed to clear communication and transparency—values that have been essential to its success.

The firm’s growth is largely due to its ability to adapt to clients' evolving needs. “We started with just tax and commercial law, but as our clients’ needs changed, so did we,” Henshaw said. Today, Velocity Legal provides a comprehensive suite of services, allowing the firm to cater to a wide range of legal issues faced by private clients, including family businesses and high-net-worth individuals.

At the heart of Velocity Legal are the values of excellence, connection, and trust. “These values may sound simple, but they are fundamental to the way we operate. We continually ask ourselves if we’re living up to them, and the answer is always yes,” Henshaw noted.

Henshaw also highlighted the importance of specialization. “Our clients deserve the best, and that’s why we make sure our lawyers are experts in their fields. We focus on delivering tailored, expert advice across every area we practice in,” he said.
