Legal job vacancies jump… Firm launches ‘GC for a Day’ campaign… ‘New breed’ law firm rapidly expanding…
A new report has found a
jump in job vacancies in the corporate and M&A sectors. While the overall number of job vacancies dropped, M&A and corporate lawyers were still high in demand over the last quarter.
“Adjusting for the traditional wind down towards Christmas it does indicate a meaningful upward trend,” legal recruiter Jason Elias told Australasian Lawyer.
Bird & Bird has
launched a campaign for law students to better understand life in-house. ‘GC for a Day’ will allow students to shadow a GC for a day.
“Getting information to students about what in-house life is really like is extremely limited,” managing partner Shane Barber told
Australasian Lawyer.
“We spoke to our clients about it and they felt the same, that there were limited opportunities for paralegals and potential graduate lawyers to get information and really experience what in-house life was really like.”
Proximity Legal, the firm calling itself a ‘new breed’ of law firm is continuing its rapid expansion with the hire of a new business manager Simon Blake.
“One of the reasons I was asked to join the firm was to expand the range of clients we deal with,” Blake said.
“Also to bring on board a number of new people, people at different levels but also people with skills in areas where Proximity has already done work in but it hasn’t done a lot.”
