The investment will help scale up the company's operations in Australia's real estate market
Arnold Bloch Leibler (ABL) has advised View Media Group (VMG) on ANZ Bank's $50m investment.
VMG is owned and controlled by Anthony Catalano and Alex Waislitz of Australian Community Media (ACM). VMG is a real estate digital media and agent services business comprising a suite of property tech platforms offering consumer and business solutions in Australia's $300bn real estate transactional market.
VMG owns The Today Business and Apartment Development Group. The company also has a stake in the online property portal, realestateview, which is Australia's third largest property portal.
ANZ's $50m investment in VMG will help scale up the company's operations in Australia's billion-dollar real estate market. The bank and VMG will also form a strategic alliance in financial services, targeting the mortgage market and other consumer finance products.
ABL corporate and M&A partners Jeremy Leibler and Rebecca Zwier acted on all aspects of the transaction. David Goldberg and Michelle Ainsworth also assisted the team.
Zwier commented on the investment, "We are pleased to have assisted VMG in this milestone transaction and look forward to seeing the business continue to grow."
Catalano said the investment "speaks volumes for the work the team has done to build a major new player in the real estate media and technology sector."
Waislistz added, "With ANZ's involvement adding to the already active participation of Seven West Media, we are now well on the way to creating Australia's most exciting real estate prop-tech business."
ABL previously advised VMG on the acquisitions of property tech ventures, The Today Business and AD Group in 2022. The Today Business delivers digital marketing and technology solutions for the property development sector and residential real estate market. The AD Group offers a property platform specifically built for apartment developments and a sales and network management portal for project marketers and developers engaged with multiple agent partners.
