The former clerks were elevated to partner, reflecting the firm's ability to develop young talent
Two former Baker McKenzie summer clerks have made partner in the firm’s recent Australia promotions round.
Amy Middlebrook and Ryan Grant joined a group of more than 60 lawyers announced as Baker McKenzie’s newest partners across the globe. They took on their new mantles on 1 July.
“With the election of two of our former summer clerks as partners, we celebrate that our firm attracts, develops and retains some of the best young legal talent in the country while providing them with the opportunity to work with many of the world's leading companies,” Australia managing partner Anthony Foley said.
He lauded Middlebrook as “a first-class litigator” when it came to complex multi-party commercial disputes. He also highlighted her experience in corporate law, product liability, advertising and marketing, particularly in the healthcare industry.
Foley also praised Grant’s expertise in technology, especially in relation to data protection, copyright, misleading or deceptive conduct and defamation. He has worked on general commercial disputes involving complex technology as well.
Both Middlebrook and Grant credited the support from Baker McKenzie and their clients for getting them where they are, and expressed their eagerness to develop their careers further.
“Both Amy and Ryan are exceptional lawyers who will bolster our ability to service our clients' needs," Foley said. “[These promotions] build on our success in the healthcare and life sciences and TMT sectors whilst demonstrating our diverse service offering with promotions in litigation, tax, real estate, corporate, energy, intellectual property, construction, environmental markets and banking/finance.”
Aside from Middlebrook and Grant, the firm also elevated 8 lawyers to special counsel and 13 to senior associates. The promoted lawyers are listed as follows:
