Kerwin commenced as a partner in the specialty lines practice
Sparke Helmore has welcomed ex-Clyde & Co lawyer David Kerwin as a partner in its Brisbane branch.
Kerwin works with the specialty lines team. He brings experience with policy coverage and defence of claims across all major insurance lines, especially financial lines (D&O, liability, management liability and professional indemnity), property (first and third party), and life insurance.
He has represented clients in class action proceedings and has defended insureds in professional negligence claims against accountants, taxation professionals, stockbrokers, financial planners, architects, and engineers. He has worked with market insurers, brokers and underwriters in Australia and London, as well as multi-national and national policy holders/insureds such as SMEs.
Kerwin has provided guidance on London Market and composite insurers’ disputes concerning property and liability losses, policy responses in TPD, income protection, and general life insurance (including in recovery actions). He has also assisted businesses and high net worth individuals in commercial disputes.
Kerwin commenced with the firm on 4 November. Last month, Sparke Helmore also picked up a team from Clyde & Co that was led by partner Matt Ellis.
