The venture has attracted investors including the youngest chairman in the history of English football
Dentons has represented Australian entrepreneur and SX Global CEO Adam Bailey in the FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX) restructure.
Bailey purchased the entire business from promoters SX Global alongside new investment partners Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and Juan Sartori. The trio will make up WSX’s ownership and leadership group, according to a WSX press release.
“While we aspire to expand and elevate WSX to become a globally renowned championship, we also recognise the need for immediate short-term changes to ensure a brighter future,” Louis-Dreyfus said.
Dentons partner Warren Scott explained that as a sport, supercross had “huge potential” to “become worth billions of dollars in just a few years,” thus drawing the attention of investors like Louis-Dreyfus, who according to WSX is the youngest chairman in the history of football, and Sartori, who co-owns Sunderland A.F.C. alongside Louis-Dreyfus.
“Our vision has always been to add value to the sport of motorcycling and complement its growth, globally – we have a number of plans and initiatives already underway that we look forward to sharing in due course,” Bailey said.
Scott worked alongside managing associate Scott Colvin to advise Bailey on the formation of the investment syndicate and acquisition.
