It aims to provide practical law information and resources to the public
The Queensland Law Society has launched a new community website that aimed to provide practical information and resources about law that will help them navigate Queensland’s law and justice system.
Titled “You & The Law,” the website includes a Find a Solicitor search, which will help members of the public to find licensed solicitors from a range of specialist areas that can give them helpful legal advice as well as assistance when it comes to their specific circumstances.
The site provides free legal advice in areas of the law such as victim assist, legal aid, and pro bono referral, while also bearing various articles about topics such as accidents and compensation, buying or selling a home, criminal offences, elder law and abuse, family and relationships, neighbour and local disputes, small business, will, estates, and retirement, and workplace and employment.
There is also a part in the website which explores the different courts in Queensland as well as what individuals can do in preparation of going to court and alternative dispute resolutions that can help in avoiding going to court in the first place.
The site can be found at http://www.youandthelaw.com.au/ together with a dedicated Facebook. With one of the main features of the website is a news feed that features a wide range of articles about common legal issues that the public may encounter, the law society is opening its doors for article contributors and urges individuals to send an email to [email protected] together with their expression of interest in contributing as well as their desired topic.
Queensland Law Society serves as a representative body for legal professionals in Queensland.
