Bell Gully has elevated construction and project specialist Scott Lochhead to partner.

He commenced with the firm in 2022 after over seven years of tackling major projects in Asia, Africa and the Middle East as part of Freshfields’ construction and global major projects practice.

“Scott is an excellent construction and projects lawyer, who has advised clients at the forefront of the construction and infrastructure industry in New Zealand and overseas over the last decade. He is a well-respected specialist in this area”, Bell Gully chair Torrin Crowther said.

Lochhead concentrates on renewable energy, telecommunications, health and transport projects. He has provided advice throughout a project lifecycle, focusing on procurement strategy, tendering, contract drafting and negotiation, project advisory, and dispute avoidance.

He also has expertise in relevant contractual models used in New Zealand, such as EPC contracting and alliancing. He has assisted on bespoke construction contracts, local and international standard forms (including FIDIC) and other ancillary project agreements needed to finance and develop major energy and infrastructure projects

Lochhead also completed secondments at Marubeni Corporation in Japan and POSCO E&C in South Korea. His clients have included Genesis Energy, Health New Zealand, the Tauranga City Council, and Auckland Transport.

He is based in Auckland.
