The senior lawyer has infectious energy and is a great mentor, the top firm’s chief executive said
A health and safety specialist’s work has been recognised by a top firm with a promotion to special counsel.
In her new role, Sarah-Lee Stead will bring new energy, ideas, and focus to delivering service to clients, said Charles Spillane, Kensington Swan chief executive. The firm said that she will be responsible for the firm’s relationship with its Auckland-based health and safety clients in the new role. She will also work closely with partner Greg Cain, who heads the firm’s national health and safety practice.
“Sarah-Lee’s hard-earned reputation as a leading health and safety lawyer strengthens the team’s value proposition,” he said. “Sarah-Lee has an infectious energy and has proved herself as a great mentor. This is a huge benefit to the wider team as well as our clients.”

An experienced advocate and litigator, Stead advises clients in a wide range of industries on all health and safety issues, including compliance, workplace management, incident investigations and prosecutions. She joined the firm in 2004 as a solicitor, became an associate in 2009, and a senior associate in 2013.
“Sarah-Lee has over a decade worth of experience in New Zealand health and safety law. She has worked on a range of some of the largest health and safety projects in the country, including being heavily involved in the Royal Commission on the Pike River Coal Mine tragedy,” Cain said.
