Highlight: 2023 Rising Star aims to understand what clients really want

For Cooney Lees Morgan’s Chad Wallace, it’s all about what clients really want.

The senior associate has made it his goal to always put himself in a client’s shoes and figure out their real goals, as well as the best way to meet those goals. When engaging clients, the Rising Star makes it a point to understand the business, its long-term aims and the greater industry concerns.

Wallace specialises in retirement village law as a member of Cooney Lees Morgan’s property and development team. He also represents orchardists, dairy farmers and forestry owners in line with his special interest in the rural sector.

He tackles land acquisitions, house and land packages, subdivisions and financing arrangements. He also works on unit title developments.

At this stage of his career, Wallace already leads a 7-strong subteam that counts among its clients a major residential construction company and private developers. Stepping up to shoulder responsibility in leadership roles is a factor that unites this year’s Rising Stars.

This year’s cohort took on mentoring positions, headed up teams across various sectors, and took risks in their careers to soar higher. Wallace is well on track to a strong career trajectory with his client-centric approach.

NZ Lawyer put the spotlight on Chad Wallace in this exclusive feature released in February. Chad Wallace was recognized as one of the winners of NZ Young Lawyers unveiled in the 2023 Rising Stars last week. See more here.
