Meredith Connell, NZLS Auckland New Lawyers crown 2024 Mooting Competition winners

Meredith Connell has partnered with the New Zealand Law Society Auckland New Lawyers to crown the winners of its 2024 Mooting Competition this month, reported the NZ Law Society.

Sam Meyerhoff and Sam McLean nabbed the first place slot, while Bella Rollinson and Ben Forbes placed second. Rollinson was also named speaker of the night.

The competition, who was opened to new lawyers in Auckland, called for participants to showcase their proficiency in legal research, argument formulation and oral advocacy over several rounds. Senior lawyers from Meredith Connell, such as Matthew Mortimer-Wang, Alex Mackenzie, Matthew Nathan, and Jessica Blythe, judged the preliminary round. 

Court of Appeal Judge Patricia Courtney and Meredith Connell partner Alysha McClintock were the judges for the final round.
