In just over a year, more than 1,000 employment agreements have been completed using an online tool refreshed by Business.govt.nz, according to Small Business Minister Jacqui Dean.
Businesses can use the Employment Agreement Builder to create agreements tailored to their needs, with clauses clearly labelled mandatory, recommended, or voluntary.
“Since the tool was refreshed 127,671 people have visited the site to create employment agreements and learn about their rights and responsibilities, with the tool receiving a 95 per cent positive feedback rating,” Dean said. “Accessible online, mobile-friendly, and with the ability to save users progress, this tool adds up to more time for business owners to work on their business, and less time on
compliance.”
The tool was first launched in 2010, but it was refreshed last year under former minister for small business Craig Foss.
“In New Zealand a written employment agreement is compulsory no matter who you employ, what they do, or for how long. It means both you and your employees know where you stand from the beginning and, if there is a disagreement, all parties have rights and protection under the law,” Foss said at that time.
